STILA LIQUID LIPSTICK REVIEW

stila lip stains

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Lately I’ve been raving about this new Stila Liquid Lipstick I got from Ulta a couple weeks ago so I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you!

I don’t know about you, but finding the perfect lipstick and lipgloss is a task! I am always amazed at those girls who can put on any lipstick at the beginning of the night and at 2AM, after food, drinks and dancing, it still looks perfect! I felt like I tried it all: lip scrubs, lip primers, and all sorts of different brands of lipsticks and glosses and still no perfect lips until I stumbled upon the Stila Liquid Lipsticks!

I actually went into Ulta to grab a few other things (funny how that always happens) and the manager came up to me to ask if I needed any help. Usually I say no but this time I was in a hurry and asked her for advice on a lipstick that is long lasting. She immediately brought me over to the Stila section and said ‘these are amazing, it’s what I’m wearing right now!’ She clearly was doing her job in the most perfect way because I walked out with 2 of the Stila lipsticks, one of which being the color she was wearing and the one I would’ve never picked out for myself – the amazing purple!

The Stila liquid lipsticks are extremely pigmented and go on very smoothly with a lightweight and matte finish. I definitely recommend using a lip liner, though, as that will help create a clean finish. The lipsticks contain Vitamin E and avocado oil to keep your lips soft and hydrated. If you tend to have dry lips, you can always put a clear gloss over top – I currently have been using this one if I want a shiny finish or if my lips are particularly dry that day.

First color I tried (and the one the manager had one) is Como : a vibrant shade of purple that I never thought I’d wear but it’s quickly become one of my favorites! I used to steer away from bold colors because the bolder they are, the weirder they look as they fade off without you noticing. My favorite way to wear this lip color is with a monochromatic neutral outfit so my lips really pop. Or sometimes I’ll add a complimentary colored kimono or shoe. For the lip liner, I use the Lorac Alter Ego Lip Liner in Jet Setter.

Bella : A bright pink lip can be styled the same way as a neutral or a bright red. It’s one of those colors that matches almost any outfit so it’s a good classic to find. I don’t usually gravitate towards pinks but the shade of the Bella pink really worked for my skin tone; not too baby or Barbie pink. I use the same Lorac Lip Liner as I use for the Como color.

…and because I loved those two shades so much, I obviously went back for more… the next day!

Beso : the most perfect red lipstick! A classic red lip is a staple in a girl’s style and when you wear it so much, who wants to worry about it fading! It’s sleek, sexy, classy & chic… you won’t be disappointed! Lip liner: Laura Mercier Lip Liner in Warm Poppy.

clinique wipes

Removing: As I mentioned before, the Stila lipsticks dry quickly and are difficult to get off but these wipes by Clinique are amazing! I use makeup wipes every night and have never had an issue with stubborn makeup except with these lipsticks. Apparently, these new Clinique wipes have a special chemical in them that allows it to break down tough makeup. They are more expensive than regular makeup wipes so I use the Clinique wipes just for my lips (a little goes a long way so no need to use the entire wipe for one wear of lips, cut them up) & my normal makeup wipes for the rest of my face.

Sephora lip stain

As many of you know, Sephora has their own line which basically just copies products from other brands. With most of their products, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference but with their version of the Stila liquid lipsticks you can. I got a neutral color in the Sephora brand, wore it the other night for the first time and it did end up fading after eating and drinking but it wasn’t terribly noticeable since it was a neutral color. The Sephora lipstick is half the price for about the same amount but the wear isn’t as great. If anything, I’d recommend buying your bold and bright colors in the Stila brand and neutrals in the Sephora brand and just know you’ll have to reapply but at least you won’t have an ombre purple lip! 😉

What are some of your lipstick favorites I should try out? I’d love to hear!

Xo, katie
